How to Set-Up LIFX and LIFX+ Bulbs for HomeKit

Setting up your LIFX and LIFX+ bulbs for HomeKit is simple but takes a few steps. To help you out I have created a step by step guide so that you can follow along.

Step 1 – Open your LIFX application

Step 2 – You will be prompted to updated your bulbs firmware. Select “OK”

Step 3 – Impatiently wait as your bulb downloads and installs the new Firmware update…and then restarts

Step 4 – Select HomeKit Setup at the bottom of the screen

Step 5 – Tap on the “Get Code” button next to the light you wish to add HomeKit support to.

Step 6 – Tap the Start Button

Step 7 – Wait Impatiently again as the bulb searches for your WiFi

Step 8 – select your WiFi from the list. ***Note***Remember LIFX bulbs only support 2.4 Ghz WiFi. So don’t try to select your 5 Ghz option.

Step 9 – Wait as your LIFX bulb connects to the wifi

Step 10 – Once connected tap “Done” in the upper right-hand corner of your screen

Step 11 – Wait even more impatiently as your unique HomeKit code is generated

Step 12 – Save or Print a copy of the HomeKit code that was generated for you. Then Click “Done” in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

Step 13 – Select the “Pair” with HomeKit option.

Step 14 – Select the home you wish to add this device too.

Step 15 – Due to not having a scan code for your HomeKit device you will need to select “Don’t have a Code or Can’t Scan” toward the bottom of your screen

Step 16 – Beside the second option “Manual Code” click the link “Enter Code”

Step 17 – Enter the 8 digit code that was generated for you. “You know the one you saved a picture of or printed a copy of”

Step 18 – Wait as the device is added to your HomeKit.

Step 19 – You may be given an option to indicate a name and location for the light. If prompted to fill in this information and click done to complete the process. If not you may be taken to this screen below. If so, you can always go back and change the name here in the LIFX application or in the Home application that is baked right into your iOS device.

Not such a terrible setup process. Now go have some fun with your newly enabled HomeKit LIFX lights.
