First Part of this set up is to create a scene to set the lights that you want to have come on for bedtime.
Step 1 – Open your Home Application on your iOS Device
Step 2 – Tap the Plus + button in the top right corner of the application
Step 3 – Select Add scene from the pop up menu located at the bottom of your screen
Step 4 – Select Custom from the next menu
Step 5 – Create a name for your scene. I used “Child Bedtime” but you can name it what ever you would like
Step 6 – After you have entered a name tap add accessories
Step 7 – Select all the accessories that you would like to control. This step is only saying which accessories that you want to have controlled when the scene is set. Then tap done in the top right corner of your screen. (you will adjust each accessory in the next step)
Step 8 – for each accessory you can tap to toggle on or off. To bring up further controls like setting a color or changing brightness long press on that accessory to be able to make these adjustments.
Step 10 – Once you have everything set the way you want you can select “Test this Scene” toward the bottom of the screen. This will allow you to preview what you have done. At this point if you want to add additional accessories you can tap the option directly under the “Test this Scene” option. You may also want to toggle “Show in Favorites” to put a quick option in your home screen.
Step 11 – Once you are happy with the scene you have set up tap Done in the top right corner of your device.
Second Part – Setting up IFTTT to blink your Philips Hue lights at Bedtime
Step 1 – Open IFTTT
Step 2 – Select My Applets in the bottom menu all the way to the right
Step 3 – Tap the Plus + button at the top right of the screen
Step 4 – Tap the Plus button in the middle of the screen
Step 5 – Tap Date & Time
Step 6 – Select the “Every day at” option
Step 7 – Select the time you wish to have your bedtime Alarm to be
Step 8 – Tap the Plus + button toward the bottom of your screen
Step 9 – Locate the Philips Hue integration and tap to select it
Step 10 – Select the “Blink Lights” option (You may need to scroll down the options to find it)
Step 11 – select which Lights or Room you would like to have blink (You may have to repeat this process if you have multiple rooms you want to have blink)
Step 12 – Tap “Finish” to complete your set up.
Note – Unfortunately Philips IFTTT integration does not allow you to select multiple light locations so you will need to run the entire second part set up for any addition lights or rooms that you want to have blink as your bedtime alarm. I have our playroom, living room and an outdoor light in the backyard all set up to do this which ensures no matter where we are playing we will be alerted that its bedtime. Have fun and play around with these tips and tricks.
